Hosting package for a domain that stays with another provider
You can take out a hosting package with WebOké while your domain stays with another provider. A hosting package is always ordered with a domain; for a domain that stays elsewhere, choose I already have a domain in the order popup. Type your domain name and click Use this domain.
Pointing your domain to your package
After the order, your package is ready, but your domain still points to your old provider. You have two options:
- Switch nameservers (recommended). Have the nameservers of your domain changed at your current provider to ns1.webawere.nl and ns2.webawere.nl. After that, you'll manage the DNS with us and your website and email will work correctly right away.
- Keep the DNS at your current provider. Set the A record of your domain and of www to the IP address of your package there (you'll find it in your welcome email and in DNS Management in DirectAdmin). If your email also arrives at WebOké, take over the MX records as well. If your mail arrives somewhere else, uncheck the box next to Use this server to handle my emails under MX Records in DirectAdmin; otherwise, mail sent by your website won't arrive correctly. We cannot provide support for setting up DNS at another provider.
Tips
- Do you want to build or test your site with us first while the domain still points to the old site? Then use Testing my website before the domain has moved.
- Do you eventually want to move the domain to us after all? Then choose Transfer a domain when ordering, followed by Transfer later. You start the transfer yourself whenever you're ready.
